Rhulani Mokwena Family

He was born into the family of Julius Sono. His family is indeed football-loving, his father, uncle (Jomo Sono) and grandfather (Eric Bhamuza Sono) were all icons of football in South Africa.

 Rhulani Mokoena Career

  • At age 14 he has coached a team he was playing for called Fulham FC. 
  • He also coached under 13 of Fulham FC.
  • Played for the Cosmos under-19s.
  • Mokeona, has a diploma in Sports Science.
  • His first professional job came when he was called by Calvin Johnson to assist him at Silver Stars now Platinum Stars in 2009.
  • He has also assisted Steve Komphela while he was Silver Stars coach.
  • He left Stars in 2010, to work for a company called Complete Footballers.
  • Mokoena joined the Bloemfontein Celtic/Sporting Lisbon academy and spent only six (6) months.
  • He joined Sundowns in 2011.
  • He made it into Sundowns senior side in 2014 after a meeting with Patrice Motsepe.
