Thomas Buyombo popularly called by his stage name Tom Close is an R&B, Afrobeat and dancehall singer and a professional medical doctor in Rwanda.

He was born on 28 October 1984 in the Masindi District of Uganda and is the winner of the first annual Primus Guma Guma Super Star famous artists competition in 2011.

Tom Close Education

He started his primary education in Uganda before he relocated to Rwanda. Tom received his ‘O’ Level certificate in Kiziguro secondary school and the French Lycée de Kigali.

He continued his academic pursuit and was awarded a degree in Human Medicine at the National University of Rwanda.

Tom Close Career

He formed his first music group under the name Afro Saints in 2005. The group, formed with four friends, recorded five songs between 2006 and 2007 but did not gain any form of popularity.

In November 2007, he recorded his first single, “Mbwira” as a solo artist. In May the next year, he dropped his debut album Kuki.

He released an extra four albums including Subeza, Ntubanyurwa, Komeza Utsinde and Mbabariara Ugaruke between 2008 and 2013.
