Dorothée Munyaneza is a British-Rwandan singer, actress, dancer, and choreographer. She was born 1982 in Kigali, Rwanda.  

She is popular for producing Samedi Détente and Unwanted, these performances were about the Rwanda genocide.

She was born 1982 in Kigali, Rwanda, as of 2019 Dorothée Munyanieza is 37 years old.

Dorothée Munyaneza Family

She was born into the family of a pastor father and a journalist mother. At the age of 12, Munyaneza and her family fled from Kigali during the Rwandan genocide.

She studied at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle where she met Christine Sigwart, founder of the Jonas Foundation. 

Later, she became interested in music and studied music at the Jonas Foundation.

She studied music and social sciences at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Dorothée Munyaneza Career

  • Munyaneza worked on the soundtrack for the Hotel Rwanda film.  
  • As a singer, she released her first solo album in 2010, which was produced by Martin Russell 
  • In 2012, she collaborated with British composer James Seymour Brett to produce the album Earth Songs.
  • By 2013, she starred in a performance by Rachid Ouramdane in Rennes, France.
  • In 2014, Munyaneza produced the work Samedi Détente translating as Saturday relaxation.
  • She produced Unwanted, her second work about the Rwandan genocide in 2017.
